How to Add an Event to your Events Calendar

This tutorial covers the basics of adding an event to your calendar as well as some more advanced options.

Step 1: Go to EVENTS CALENDAR > Add New Event

To add an event, you need to go to EVENTS CALENDAR and then to ADD NEW EVENT. This will open up the New Event options.

Step 2: Enter Event Title

Enter the title of your event. Try to keep it as short as possible so it will be understandable and readable on the Monthly View of the calendar. It’s a small box :)

Step 3: Enter Date and Time Details

The next thing you will want to add are the date and time details. We’ll go over specifics below.

All Day Event

If you set an event to ALL DAY, the time options will vanish and the event will be listed for the entire day on the calendar.

No End Time

If you select No End Time on your event, the options for end time will vanish and no be available.

Select Start / End Times

Clicking on the date field or the time field will bring up a pop up for easy selection of dates and times.

Select Timezone

The timezone will default to the timezone you have set up in SETTINGS > GENERAL SETTINGS on the main website admin options. If you need to change the time zone you can do so here.

Repeat

If you select the repeat box, you will be presented with another window with your repeating options (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, etc) You can make custom repeating patterns here.

Exclude

The Exclude option allows you to exclude a block of repeating dates from repeating events. For example during Holiday Breaks.

The Exclude dates option allows you to specify specific dates that are not to be included in a repeating event schedule.

Step 4: Event Location Details

Event Location Details are completely optional and are not required. To access the options, click on the Event Location Details Title and they will open.

Venue Name

Enter the name of the Venue. This will be displayed on the event details as well as widgets and other areas.

Address

If you want to use a google map on the event details page, you will need to enter an address. When you enter the address, the calendar will try to locate your address on the map, click the map to verify the correct location if there are multiples.

Show Google Map

If you would like to show a Google Map of the address on your calendar event detail page, click the Show Google Map box. This will bring up a small preview to the right for your review.

Input Coordinates

Some locations are hard to correctly place on a map. If this is the case, you can also use GPS coordinates for your location.

Step 5: Event Cost and Tickets

If your event has a fee associated with it, you can enter the price and link to purchase in this section. This is optional.

Enter the cost of your event here. Use the currency symbol as it is not added automatically.

Free Event

If your event is free, you can check this box to remove the cost options.

Buy Tickets URL

If you are selling tickets online, you can enter the website address for your form and it will be added to a Buy Button in your event detail page. This is optional.

Step 6: Organizer Contact Info

If you need to provide contact information for people attending your event, this is the section you’ll want to add those details. Again, this is optional. You can add the Name, Phone and Email as well as a website address if you have one for the organizer.

Step 7: Main Body of the Event

If you have more information you want to provide, you can use the main body of your event to do so. This will appear on the detail page for your event.

Step 8: Event Categories

Event Categories can be found in the right side column and are perfect for helping categorize and organize your events calendar. If you use Events Categories your users will also be able to filter their own calendars to exactly what they are looking for. We HIGHLY Suggest using Events Categories.

Categories that you have already set up will be available in the Event Categories tab. If you have a ton of categories, you can also use the MOST USED tab for popular categories. You may check multiple categories.

Add New Category

You can manage your categories through the Events Categories tab in your admin Navigation, but if you need to add a category on the fly, you can add it by clicking the Add New Category link. Proceed to enter the Category, determine if the category has a Parent and then click Add New Category and you are done.

Step 9: Featured Image

Featured Images help your events stand out on both the calendar view as well as the detailed view. You can upload an image just like any other, try it out!

Step 10: Publish / Update your Event!

There are some other settings you can play with on the Event Page, but we have covered the majority of them in this guide. When you are finished making adjustments, don’t forget to Publish or Update your event to save it!
